Celebrate the fiber arts as The Darl Center showcases the leading fiber artists from around the world. The museum gallery will also feature a global mosaic of art quilts as well as a vast collection of postcard quilts.
Wearable Art Fashion Show
Fiber Art Fest at the Darl Center starts with a runway fashion show featuring the wearable art of the world’s leading fiber artists, including David Walker.
Wearable Art, also known as Artwear or “art to wear,” refers to art pieces in the shape of clothing. Wearable Art is a creative and an expressive form of fashion where garments transcend mere functionality to become unique, artistically significant pieces that push the artists’ originality and creativity to inspiring levels. The lines between traditional and practical clothing blur as artists experiment with a wide range of materials—metal, plastic, paper, wood, vinyl, spandex, fabric and so much more.

Due to the event’s popularity, the Darl Center is offering two showtimes with a gallery tour afterward and cash bar. Tickets to both shows are sold out.

ART QUILT CHALLENGE
Art Quilting is a type of art that uses traditional and modern quilting techniques to create art objects. Art quilts are often inspired by real life or other art, and can be a free-form expression of the artist’s thoughts, feelings, and emotions. They can be created in many styles, including abstract, collage, landscape, pictorial, or improvisational. Art quilts are usually hung or mounted, and are often displayed as paintings or tapestries.
Juried Show. Cash Awards will be presented for Best of Show, Jurors Choice & Best use of Color.
POSTCARD QUILT
Our world is inspired by the colors that surround us – beautiful gardens, the forest nearby, the blue seas, the wild animals, natural vistas, charming cottages, happy moments in our lives. For the Worldwide Postcard Quilt Challenge, we want you to illustrate how rich and colorful your world is by creating your postcard quilt, share the adventure of your world, your life, your city, your country, your quilting style and then mail it to us for the show!
